Question 1.
With all the companies selling
Hydraulic Fitness Circuit Training Equipment what are some of the
things I need to know to assure I get the best value for my
dollar?
Answer 1. Truth be told there are
really very limited direct manufacturers of the equipment and the
rest are re-sellers. Many of the retailers represented are
merely branches of the same company with various websites or
middlemen representing the manufacturer working on commission, or
entrepreneurs buying and re-selling the equipment under there label.
The reason for the multiple web sites is not necessarily a
deception, but rather an attempt to drive as much traffic to their
product as possible. Here are some simple rules to help you in
your decision making:
A) Most retailers on the market are
actually re-sellers with a agreement of production from a supplier,
and in most cases the warranty will fall back to the manufacturer.
However some retailers warrant equipment beyond that of their
supplier in order to set themselves apart and make a sale. Make sure
the warranty holder is identified and the procedures for
claims. How long has the retailer been in business and how long
has their supplier been in business.
B) Many companies selling the equipment have no
training in fitness, or the equipment they are selling, they
are just salesmen trying to make a sale. These self proclaimed
experts often give out false information on the use and function of
the equipment which actually may be harmful to the end user, and
will hurt your credibility with a potential customer who knows
fitness and training.
C) Many manufacturers are great engineers,
who can put together great looking equipment, but have no knowledge
of fitness or muscle training as it relates to movement. Thus many
pieces of equipment are built with one muscle group in mind but
actually work the secondary groups more than the primary the machine
was built for. The attention to detail, the input from trainers
and health experts (doctors and chiropractor), make sure our
machines hit the target muscles first and the secondary
next. No piece of equipment built will be the same for every
individual so using averages like many manufacturers actually
misses the mark, positioning on your equipment becomes critical and
many have limited positioning available due to their very
design.
D) What kind of testing does your equipment
receive before delivery and in what environment was the
equipment originally tested to make sure it holds up to the
standards of a fitness facility? At BodyWorx all equipment before
being produced goes on a gym floor for a minimum of 6 months before
being released for production. In addition every piece of equipment
goes through a standard operational and visual inspection before
being shipped out to our customers.
E) What kind of warranty do you have with your
machines and is it so full of legalees language that it
basically negates your warranty. Who carries your warranty and what
are the procedures for claims. Know your coverage and your carrier.
Require a written warranty with the name of the service agent so you
know who is directly responsible for service and life of
equipment.
F) 11 Gauge steel is the high end in commercial
grade exercise equipment and will hold up the best under the
volume of traffic you will receive. Many claim to use 11 gauge but
actually have a mix of 11 and 14, make sure of what you are getting.
Square tubing is much stronger and gives a more solid base
than tubular steel which won't have the surface contact to insure
confidence in the piece of equipment you are using. Square
gives your customer more support, stability, and confidence
when exercising (the larger the individual the more this comes
into play), thus allowing them to direct their full attention to the
movement rather than balance.
G) What kind of regular maintenance
must be performed daily, weekly and monthly on machines? In
case of mechanical problems what are the procedures in place
for solving problems. Can most mechanical issues be solved by
personnel on staff? How user friendly are the
machines?
Question 2. I've noticed that there are a lot of
different hydraulic cylinders on the various brands of Circuit
Training machines on the market. How much difference can a
hydraulic cylinder make? Is there really any
difference?
Answer
2. Many companies would like you to
believe a hydraulic cylinder and resistance variations aren't
as critical to your workout as they really are. Some, including some
of the leaders in the field, continue to insist that a single
setting hydraulic cylinder is all that is needed to accomplish as
much work as you need. Just work a little faster to increase the
resistance. As sighted in the April Issue of
Club Industry's Fitness Business Pro Magazine "pulsating
is a problem in many hydraulic fitness facilities" and
"equipment at some hydraulic clubs doesn't allow for a true
change in resistance. Instead members are encouraged to go
faster on the equipment to get in more repetitions during the
allotted time".
This may sound like a logical
solution but,as further sited in the above mentioned article
"When people want to increase the intensity of their
workout, nobody thinks of adjusting speed; they think of
resistance", and "Just being able to do more sets
and repetitions does not qualify as "adjustable. Further
there comes a time when you can only go so fast. You only
have a certain time to do reps". Finally " When you do
resistance exercise at fast speeds you have a much greater rate
of overuse injuries".
So with all these concerns, what
is the answer to these problems? Body Worx Fitness offers on its
equipment adjustable hydraulic cylinders which have 12 levels of
adjustment, the highest available on the market today. Each level of
adjustment is a true new level of resistance, unlike others on the
market which overlap from one range to the next, basically giving
you less true resistance levels. BodyWorx Hydraulics are
manufactured and assembled for the fitness industry per our
specifications and assembled after your order is placed. You are
guaranteed a fresh cylinder, ready to go without having been on
someone's shelf for long periods of time, increasing the possibility
of problems.
Question 3. What are some of the major differences between BodyWorx
Fitness line of Hydraulics and other
brands?
Answer
3. The differences in our equipment may
not be as noticeable to the layman as the professional. Where
we do differ is in the details and quality parts incorporated
into every piece of equipment we build. Only the highest grade
materials available, to create the highest quality pieces of
equipment that we are proud to put our name on Most builders use
whatever is most cost effective in order to gain the most profit on
each piece sold. BodyWorx Fitness wants the customer to be
comfortable with your equipment. Since women's markets make a large
portion of the Hydraulic Fitness Market we build our equipment so
women can handle any maintenance or possible technical problem that
may occur. Some of the major differences
are:
A) HYDRAULICS: Engineered
for the fitness industry with 12 true resistance levels. BodyWorx
Fitness Hydraulics have been engineered to have a
un-noticeable travel time for the hydraulics to begin work, our
travel time is the lowest in the business. This assures the user of
smooth operation and immediate benefit from the start of exercise,
and further eliminates injury possibilities. The hydraulics are
assembled after the order is placed, assuring you a cylinder which
has optimum performance and has not had a shelf life that no one is
sure of. Our shock has balanced resistance on both the negative
and positive movement to assure you of a double positive resistance
workout. working the positive and negative to assure the adaptive
response to improve the quality and integrity of the bone tissue and
help fight against delayed muscle soreness. Easy access handles for
adjustment of resistance or the option of key adjustment if you
prefer staff only
adjustment.
B) FRAME: BodyWorx
Fitness uses 11 gauge premium square steel to assure
stability, strength and durability. Delivered already assembled to
assure proper function and integrity of warranty, you are ready
to use the equipment as soon as it arrives. Full lifetime warranty
on the structural integrity of the frame for as long as you own it.
Pre-assembled construction has less connection points,
less bolts to worry about, which all adds up to less daily
maintenance to you. Our maintenance levels of our equipment are
the lowest levels on the market.
C)
UPHOLSTERY: BodyWorx
Fitness uses the highest grade foam used in the
hydraulic fitness field, selected for its memory and durability
properties, to assure a long life of comfort and cushioning for
the exerciser operating the equipment. Each machine is covered with
a marine grade vinyl that guards against u.v exposure and mold
buildup which is common in the fitness field with unprotected
equipment. Unlike other manufacturers we give you a choice in the
upholstery. You can have your equipment covered in a sewn or a
stretched style, whatever your preference may
be.
D) MOVING PARTS: Most circuits
utilize bushings for there movable arm attachments to their
machines. BodyWorx Fitness has chosen to use the
same high end pillow block bearings available on only the highest
quality fitness machines, hydraulic, stack or conventional. The
advantage of pillow block over bushing is amazing, making an
immediate and noticeable impact in the smoothness of operation and
the ability of movement to adjust to different operators of the
equipment. Pillar block bearing are made to withstand thousands of
rotations per minute, basically unachievable by a human, thus
assuring a long and durable life. If something every was to happen
to one the repair is simple and takes only a matter of minutes for
almost anyone to do. Bushings however would require the help of a
knowledgeable person for even minor repairs. If left unattended to
for a period of time (not all problems are immediately
detectable)this may cause extensive wear to your equipment,
since the very nature of bushing movement does not allow for
pressure except from one movement, which would require extensive
work by a professional.
E) FINISH: the finishing process would
seem to be one of those things that doesn't really matter on the
surface. This is the furthest from the truth, especially within the
fitness industry. With Powder coating instead of paint you don't
have to worry about pinholes, cracks or crevices. Powder coating is
scratch resistant, holds up under harsh chemicals, and is more
resistant to fading from ultraviolet rays (like the sun) than
paint.
F) SEATS, POSITIONING ETC.: one of
the critical, and many times overlooked functions, of your workout
is the positioning of the body in relation to the movement being
performed. Of course 30 minute fitness facilities can not have
adjustable seats or foot placement areas because by the time the
adjustment is made you have used half of your allotted time for each
station, breaking your rhythm and completing less work on each
station. BodyWorx Fitness solves this problem by
making the seats larger and closer to the ground, adding
steady plates for foot placement rather than the usual small
straight bar for foot placement. The foot positioning plates allow
you not only horizontal foot placement for positioning according to
width (the only adjustment available with straight bars of other
brands), but also vertical foot placement to account for the
difference in height of your
patrons.
Question 4. All
your competitors seem to be priced much higher than you. How can you
afford to use higher quality parts and materials, give better
guarantees and still be more affordable than your
competitor?
Answer
4. We have a steady base income we
operate from and limit the advertising expenses to only the
necessary needed to keep the public aware of our equipment without
having to inflate pricing to make up the difference. We have
extensively searched to find the best suppliers to partner with in
quality, function and representation of our product, while
maintaining reasonable pricing based on our volume. This pricing is
passed on to every buyer of our equipment rather than choosing to
make this an extra point of profit. Our sales staff consists of the
owner, operations manager, and the actual builders of our
equipment. Since no sales are based on commission this is a
direct benefit to you the consumer. Everyone within the BodyWorx
Family wears numerous hats and is very conscious of eliminating
unnecessary expenses and your need to keep initial costs down to
increase your ability to turn a profit faster. We care about
you and satisfying your needs because you are our best
salesmen.
